DAY 1. |
Depart for Scotland |
After our local pick-ups we start your journey travelling north, with a comfort stop for morning coffee. Still heading north, we cross the border into Scotland with a stop for lunch at the picturesque Gretna Green. The World Famous Old Blacksmith’s Shop is one of Scotland’s earliest visitor attractions... curiosity has attracted travellers to visit Gretna Green since the middle of the 19th Century. The first visitors would peer through the windows trying to catch a glimpse of a run-away couple marrying over the anvil. Here you shall have a lunch stop, before continuing your journey to Irvine and your hotel, where you will spend the next 4 night’s half board. A warm welcome awaits your arrival where you can relax after your journey enjoying afternoon tea. |
| |
A full English breakfast is taken at leisure, and then you have the rest of the morning to relax or explore the grounds of the hotel until a light buffet lunch. The coach will depart after lunch for a tour of the Ayrshire coastline. Returning to relax before the nights festivities. We celebrate the forthcoming New Year with a Gala Dinner followed by dancing until late with a glass of ‘bubbly’ to see in the New Year. |

Start the New Year with a hearty English breakfast. Take things easy this morning until a light buffet lunch. This afternoon we will take a country ride. Relax before Dinner, followed by entertainment. |

| After breakfast and our cases have been loaded onto the coach, we start our journey home. Crossing the border into Northumbria, we travel down the east side of the country stopping at the beautiful City of Durham. Durham is a compact city and was once described as 'a perfect little city'. Durham Castle and Cathedral are renound as one of the most popular historic sites in Europe and they are now designated a World Heritage Site. The Cathedral was founded in 1093 and is regarded as a fine example of a Norman Cathedral. The castle was formerly a Norman Fortress built in the 11th century by William the Conqueror on a hill overlooking the river Wear and was an ideal location to defend Northumbria against the Scots. On departing Durham, we continue our journey home, arriving in your local area mid evening. |
