The 22,080grt Bahamian flagged Marco Polo with her handsome traditional profile, beautiful teak decks and distinctive dark blue hull and deep draft is a fully stabilised and air conditioned classic ocean liner, extensively re-built in 1993 for the discerning premium cruise market. She can accommodate up to 850 guests and has eight passenger decks, serviced by three main lobbies and four lifts.
Her wide range of public facilities include the impressive Waldorf Restaurant offering a traditional two sitting fixed time dining option and, as an alternative more informal experience, the stylish Marco's Restaurant. There are five principal lounge areas. The Magellan Deck offers the theatre style Marco Polo Lounge; the elegant Captain's Club, a perfect venue for pre-dinner cocktails with the resident pianist; the relaxing Palm Garden, a quiet spot with wonderful panoramic ocean views; and the stylish Columbus Lounge where the head barman will soon get to know your favourite drink. There are generally two formal or gala nights planned on each cruise when many gentlemen wear a dinner jacket, although a lounge suit is quite acceptable. The ladies on these occasions have a chance to dress up and often opt for evening or cocktail dresses.
- All staterooms feature 110v or 220v current and have an electrical socket to allow small appliances such as electric shavers, electric rollers and curling tongs to be used. It is advisable to bring a UK three pin to European round two pin universal adapters in order to access the electrical supply in the rooms.
- Gratuities: According to international custom in the hospitality industry, tipping is accepted as recognition of good service. For your greater convenience the cruise ship operate an automatic tipping system so instead of worrying how much and when to tip, an amount of £5.00 per person per night will be debited to your onboard account at the end of your cruise.
